Rose's Apple Cake

Servings: Ingredients:
2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups oil
2 tsp vanilla
3 well-beaten eggs
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp salt
3 cups flour
1 1/4 tsp soda
1 tsp cloves
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp allspice
4 cups chopped apples
1 1/2 cups chopped nuts

Topping
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup cream
Boil 5 minutes. Beat until creamy and spoon over cake.

Directions:
  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease and dust with flour a tubular pan.
  • Combine sugar, oil, vanilla, lemon juice, and beaten eggs.
  • Mix all dry ingredients.
  • Mix all the above ingredients.
  • Fold in apples and nuts.
  • Bake in a tubular pan for 1 1/2 hours.
  • Turn out of pan and spoon topping over cake.
